Batman Arkham Knight is the final chapter in British studio Rocksteady's critically claimed Arkham Trilogy and has a scheduled release date of June 2nd.
Set one year after the events of 2011's Batman: Arkham City and centred on Batman (voiced by the returning Kevin Conroy ) at the height of his abilities.
With the help of Commissioner James Gordon and the hacker Oracle, the iconic DC Comic character Batman must confront The Scarecrow and other famous villains such as The Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and an all new villain The Arkham Knight, who have formed a plot to finally kill the caped crusader.
The game is the first in the series to feature on the new generation of consoles the PS4 & Xbox One and is being developed by the same team that previously worked on the two main Batman Arkham games, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City.
Many of the same gadgets and gameplay elements from previous Arkham games return with improvements and additions being made to the already stellar gliding, stealth and combat systems. Gotham City is now also even bigger and better than before, approximately five times bigger to be exact, giving the player plenty of rooftops and other famous Gotham landmarks to explore and glide around.
The main addition to the game is the inclusion of the Batmobile as a playable vehicle. The Batmobile can be summoned to the players location at any time while on foot or in the air for when you land. It features many special abilities such as jumps, speed boosts, firing projectiles and smashing through objects. The car will also be upgradeable like all of Batman's abilities and gadgets and is needed to complete some of the Riddler trophies that return to the series after disappointingly not being featured in the prequel Batman: Arkham Origins.
Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled for release on June 2nd for PS4 , Xbox One and PC. The game was delayed from its original date of October 14, 2014 to give the development team more time to perfect the finished product and make sure the game was ready for release to the public.
If you pre-order Batman: Arkham Knight now, you will receive a pre-order bonus that allows you to play as Harley Quinn in a story driven mission featuring her own abilities and weapons.
At E3 2014 the game received Game Informers award for Best Action Game and IGNs Best Xbox One Game and runner up for Game of Show and Best PlayStation 4 Game. The game is listed in MCV as one of the most anticipated titles for 2015 alongside the likes of Halo 5: Guardians and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
