From the magical world of Konami , Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain picks up where we were so alluringly left at the end of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero and is the finest addition in the MGS franchise. This has been the most anticipated stealth action-adventure game of the 20th century since it was announced that Ground Zero and The Phantom Pain were to serve as two stunning segments to one colossal story; Metal Gear Solid V. Follow the story of Venom Snake , who is on a revenge fuelled mission to wreak merciless destruction on those that destroyed his forces during the events that took place in Ground Zero. The game is a direct sequel to Ground Zero and follows on from the same narrative that was established.

Set in 1984, in Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain, Big Boss (Venom Snake) travels through Africa and Afghanistan to find those that did him wrong in Ground Zero. Big Boss is the main protagonist in this unparalleled story of revenge and passion. Massive open-world environments make players consider their options much more carefully and mean that resources available need to be used wisely. As well as the standard arsenal of binoculars, maps, pistols, assault rifles and explosives, Snake can call on assistance from Quiet , a female soldier, and DD, a trained wolf. How effective these companions are is totally dependent on the relationship that you build with them, meaning that there is more than just skill involved here.

Your organisation skills will be put to the test this time around, as the build-a-base feature has been utilised to its fullest extent. Not only will you be able to develop your own weapons and items, you will also be able to recruit enemy soldiers and prisoners, growing your base from the ground up using skill and cunning. Unlike in previous Metal Gear Solids you will be able to walk through the base complex as well as access it through both smartphone and other electronic devices. Upgrades to the base can be made but are costly, so you will be required to look for diamonds and other articles of worth inside shipping containers and other hidden areas.

What's New?

A great, almost AI, feature is that your enemies will get smarter the more you play. If you do a mission and you continually go for head shots, your enemy will learn from this and in future confrontations they may be wearing metal helmets. This makes learning the ins and outs of all of the weapons at your disposal of paramount importance.

To add to the massive open-world environment, travel has become more complex. You now have the ability to get around using helicopters, planes, motorcycles as well as horseback. The usual sneaking will often be the main mode of transport that is required as the main objective of the game is stealth.

MGS V will have as good a cast as any, as it has been announced that Kiefer Sutherland (the lead actor in 24 ) will provide the voice for Snake as well as doing the motion capture work for the game, on the premise that he will more accurately be able to portray the vocal and facial qualities of a man in his late forties. Developed by Kojima Productions, this is set to be one of the finest Hideo Kojima games of all time!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on PS4 , Xbox One , PS3 , Xbox 360 and PC and is available to order now on MGS V is playable both in a single player story mode and in an online multiplayer mode where you can play with, or against friends.

The Chicken Cap: If you're looking to have a bit of a goof around, then the Chicken Cap is for you. By donning this ridiculous headgear, the difficulty of missions decreases and as its name implies, alters the appearance of Big Boss so that he is wearing a massive chicken hat!
