Mass Effect 2 lost a lot of the things which allowed it's predecessor to call itself an RPG, making it more of a sci-fi themed third person shooter. It had a story that went off on a tangent from the issues introduced in the first game, and then spends the whole game on yet another tangent, opting to fill out a ridiculously large roster of characters than actually deal with the problem they faced. Further to the RPG elements, Mass Effect 2 stripped out a large amount of gameplay elements as well including the Mako and Planet Exploration. Despite everything I've said however, it's actually pretty good, or even great when compared with the next game in the series. Despite having some pretty major faults, pretty much everything I haven't mentioned thusfar was done quite well. Not to mention the improved PC port, visuals, combat and god knows how much else. Recommended? Heck yeah. Just brace yourself for the next title in the series - it's a slap in the face.
