highly overrated game, ignore all the praise that the developers proudly display on the case.
This is easily the worst platform exclusive title i have ever played in my last 20 years....
if you think it looks interesting make sure you research everything about the game first, before you cough up for it.
if you are unaware this game is made by the same developer behind the dark souls series, and likewise is basically the same game.
as such the game treats the player as if you have played any of those games prior, there is no tutorial to speak of, and the game drops you straight into the thick of it, with very little similarity to games from the same genre.
if you are new to a dark souls-Esq game as i was, you will get very frustrated very quickly upon starting the game.
further more this game being praised as a hard game is quite misleading.
i'll agree that it is hard, but not due to the handicap of the game. the truth is that this game is so difficult because the actual combat system is incredibly buggy and unpolished. there is no "true" guard or defense system to be heard of, the best you can do is attempt to roll and try to evade enemy attacks, 90% of the time it comes down to who has the longest stick? and/or can hit the fastest?
and of course that's if the enemy doesn't just attack you through walls and unbreakable objects or even through each other!
the clipping in the game is terrible, and the hit-box's for enemy's hardly ever function logically.
it is basically a ps4 game graphically with ps1 era physics.
the multiplayer is very misleading as far as advertisement also, not a game to buy to play with friends.
there is no matchmaking, no lobbies and no way to invite players into your session.
the only way to play multiplayer is to both be in the same area in game, stand in almost identical locations, and stand still ringing silly little bells and hope you find your friends or other player's by having your game detect their bell, and this only work's as a help system, once you complete an area you can no longer search for players to your join game within that completed section so unless you don't mind helping people further behind than you, your out of luck there also.
unless you pvp, but that mode is equally stressing to setup and incredibly boring anyway.
and to top it all off there is no real story to keep you interested in the game either, you literally wake up in a clinic and are expected to just go kill stuff.
there is no driving narrative to explain why you are playing.
all three potential ending's to the game also explain nothing, and leave you more confused than before!
I personally don't understand why this game has got such a positive reception.
any other developer would have the absolute PR piss taken out of them for releasing a game like this.
it caters to a very "niche" audience, and doesn't do anything special to make it stand out from the crowd.
money far better spent elsewhere!
