Word of advice going into Yokai Watch. If you expect Pokemon, DO NOT expect Pokemon. The gameplay is completely different in all respects and can be appreciated for its own merits. From its core, this game typically has a go-with-the-flow vibe. The battles are in real-time format and very dynamic, but your yokai may have a tendency to ignore orders due to their personalities, so a lot of the time you'll need to just roll with the events as strategy only takes you so far. The story itself and side quests are quite mundane and of little import, as there is no 'grand objective' to tackle. Ultimately, the game itself is very casual and can be appreciated if you just want to enjoy a near stress-free experience where you can just chill, find and capture yokai at your leisure (I say 'near' because there are some ridiculous difficulty spikes concerning a couple of bosses). I expect this to be great with kids, but probably a bit too casual for more serious gamers that maybe expecting something a little more strategic or challenging.
