What To Expect From E3 2019.
E3 2019 is just around the corner and we’re all so excited!
It hasn’t even started yet and so many announcements for big games have already started to be released. There's been new information on the upcoming Call of Duty game, there were hints that Larian will be working on something other than Divinity and some early information on the Avengers Game too came to light too.
I’m sure if you are reading this it’s because you already know about E3 and want to know more but for anyone reading this who has no clue what we’re on about, E3 is one of the biggest gaming conventions that there is for computer and video games and is where all the top gaming studios and publishers gather to show off their latest games, gadgets and present their demo’s for upcoming releases.
This year’s E3 is officially starting on 11th June and going right the way through until the 13th June at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It can be quite overwhelming at times when it all comes at once, especially when some of the big events are starting a little earlier. Here are some events that are going to be happening that you may want to know about;
The Bethesda Press Conference, June 9th.
We all know after the launch of Rage 2 that Bethesda is looking to bring out a number of new releases in the near future. It has already been confirmed that Doom: Eternal will be at this year's event, but if you were expecting updates on games like The Elder Scrolls VI then you’re going to be disappointed as Todd Howard, Director of Bethesda said at a conference back in March that it’s something they will be talking about at this year's E3. I wouldn’t worry too much as I’m sure there will be a lot more exciting updates we will hear about on other upcoming games.
Ubisoft Press Conference, June 10th.
It’s been quite quiet on what to expect from Assassin's Creed and Far Cry at this years E3 as we’ve not heard much but fingers crossed they’ll surprise us with something good. For games like Beyond Good and Evil that have been in the works since 2017, the company has already said that they will not be discussing this title’s release this year either however there may be some news about Assassin’s Creed or Watch Dogs title (fingers crossed).
Square Enix Press Conference, June 10th.
Now this will be a big one to look out for! Square has only just confirmed the Avengers game project that they originally revealed back in 2017 and it’s the game everyone has been wanting to know about the release If that wasn’t exciting enough for you, they have finally promised more information on the Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Who can we expect to see or not see this year?
It’s been confirmed that Sony is skipping this year’s E3 altogether which has disappointed quite a lot of the PS4 players as it means maybe some of the games they were hoping for like Last of Us Part II are at least a year away at best. But on a better note, Sony has reassured their fans that they are busy working on the new PlayStation 5 ready for the rumoured 2020 release.
Now that their main competitor is not attending this year, it really is their time to shine! With a 2-hour presentation planned and 14 games to show-off, it seems like we really could be in a treat from Microsoft this year.
The biggest of those is no doubt Halo Infinite, followed by Gears 5. After brief mentions of these at last year's E3, they've been confirmed for this year so we can expect the two of them to soak up a fair bit of screen time but we’re not complaining.
They are back again this year hosting their own conference at E3 but we’re still not 100% sure on what games they are going to be showcasing this year.
With the line up that Nintendo have for the second half of 2019, they are going to have a lot to talk about too by the looks of it with Super Mario Maker 2, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 3, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening all headed for the Switch this year!
Of course, it wouldn't be E3 without some curveballs thrown in there too, would it? Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Mario Party/Kart have already gotten (or soon will get) games on the Nintendo Switch, but maybe we will even see something else be dug up…
EA will not be attending this year’s E3 as they are already hosting their own conference; EA Play, which is basically the same thing, just for their own games.
Ubisoft apparently has four AAA games coming out between now and March 2020 so looks like they will have plenty to talk about at their conference. Out of the four rumoured games, only one of those has been officially revealed so far; Ghost Recon Breakpoint which I’m sure will be similar to others in the series but a little bit more information on the title would be amazing for fans.
The game we are most looking forward to at E3.
It’s not too surprising after last years reveal of Cyberpunk 2077 that it’s going to make an appearance at E3 again this year. But in no way does that take away the excitement we have for this game to be released!
Cyberpunk 2077 was announced back in 2012 and followed by a CGI teaser trailer nearly a year later. After that, there was essentially no new information regarding the game for five whole years! That was until a CGI trailer at E3 in 2018 and boy, what a demo. We learnt so much about the game, it’s storyline, gameplay and character customisation.
It’s now almost E3 2019 and we can’t wait to hear more about the game and see more of its gameplay.
Those are all the biggest players, but there's a long list of other publishers and companies making the most of E3 season too!
To keep up with everything E3, make sure to check out their official website or follow them on their social media.
