Ricky Gervais' bittersweet comedy-drama Derek stars Gervais as the titular hero; a kind selfless nursing home assistant whose social awkwardness is matched only by his charmingly naive curiosity. The series follows the day-to-day life inside the modest facility, where Derek and his companions --care worker Hannah (Kerry Goldiman), handyman Dougie (Karl Pilkington in his first acting role) and local oddball Kev (Dave Earl)-- have found a quiet, but maybe not ideal, refuge from society's judgements and vanity.
