The Nintendo Switch Pro-Controller is a premium product boasting premium grips and a semi-transparent casing. It has the same buttons as the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode and is designed to be held and operated more easily than the Joy-Con controllers. The primary difference in the controls is that while the directional controls on the Joy-Con (L) are made up of different buttons, the pro controller has a single plus control pad, similar to previous systems.

- Joysticks with a good throw that you can actually get precision on (i.e. not effectively the on/off of the Joy Cons). - Joysticks have a subtle but much appreciated resistance helps with precision. - Nice relaxed grip position - An actual D-Pad - Buttons of good size and a satisfying engagement (they feel solid, unlike the chintzy ones in the Joy Cons) - Beautifully weighted and balanced If you are an adult, don't hate yourself and play your Switch a lot pick one up ASAP. For comparison, I much prefer this to the PS4 controller, it's closer to an XBOX controller with the grip and stick layout.
Definitely a must have if you mostly play with your switch docked.
This controller is awesome, so much more comfortable than the JoyCon grip, and a must buy if you use docked mode often. Battery life is also great.
A must need if you are aiming to play docked on the Nintendo Switch. The joy-cons are good and all, but this is a lot more comfortable. It has a pretty good battery life and can last for ~ 40 hours.
Breath of the Wild is perfectly playable with the controller that comes with the Switch. The same is probably true for most other Switch games, though I haven't been able to test any others just yet. But an experience like Zeldas a massive open world that will likely take you dozens of hours to complete as those tiny flaws become magnified. And if you're the kind of person who has been waiting years to explore the latest rendition of Hyrule for dozens of hours, dropping an extra $70 on a fine-tuned controller might be a solid investment.
