This is an amazing piece of software and technology not only for the novice. As someone that has played guitar and bass for years before previously purchasing this game I have now clocked 100s of hours on this game and I get maximum enjoyment from. It is an excellent teaching tool for beginners wanting to pick up guitar or bass even up to more advanced experienced players able to play songs straight off the bat on hardest settings, once you get your head around the interface it has a similar Graphical user interface to Guitar Hero but instead it's just like reading tab if you have used programs before like "guitar Pro" or "power tab". There is so much downloadable content eg extra songs to download catering most people's taste in music. I must say it is best played with a bass than emulated, I found more enjoyable on bass as was accurate to what notes were being played than guitar. Though don't scrimp on a cheap guitar a good guitar set up will make the difference and may have to find that changing between pickups to get it to pick up tunning right.
