God of War Collection Volume 2 II Game (Essentials) PS3

Discover Kratos's dark past as two classic PSP God of War titles arrive on PlayStation 3.

  • Enjoy the highly acclaimed God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta, remastered in razor-sharp High Definition for PS3
  • Discover the mysterious secrets lurking within Kratos's past and learn the truth behind long unanswered questions from the award-winning series
  • Relive incredible battles with some of the most popular figures from Greek mythology, in eye-popping stereoscopic 3D

God of War: Chains of Olympus

The God of War franchise tells the tragic and violent story of the warrior Kratos and his dealings with the gods. The ancient world would eventually both praise and damn the infamous 'Ghost of Sparta' as the mortal who slayed a god, but long before his battle with Ares, Kratos sought absolution from his past sins by pledging himself as a champion to the gods. These brutal crusades in the name of Olympus became legendary, but would have far-reaching consequences. In Chains of Olympus Kratos is pushed to the edge as he is ordered by the gods to journey to the very depths of the underworld after the world plunges into darkness. There he must face the most feared creatures of Greek mythology and is forced to choose between his own personal redemption and saving the ancient world from certain destruction. It is a choice that will shake the immortals from their perches on Mt. Olympus.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Set within the shadowy realm of Greek mythology, God of War: Ghost of Sparta allows players to take on the role of the powerful and iconic Spartan warrior Kratos following the events of the original God of War game for PS2. Although Kratos has made his ascent to power as the God of War, this rise is not without its consequences. In his quest to rid himself of the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must embark on a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds, and finally answer long-awaited questions about his dark past. Armed with the deadly chained Blade weapons, he will have to overcome armies of mythological monsters, legions of undead soldiers, and amazingly dangerous and brutal landscapes throughout his merciless quest.

Customer Reviews

God of War Collection is just that, a collection of the first two games in the trilogy. The two games tell the story of Kratos' initial deception at the hands of the gods, all the way to his epic confrontation with Zeus himself. The disc features all of the original content from the first two games, but all stored conveniently on one disc. Running in native 720p, as compared to upscaling to 720p via backward compatible units playing the PS2 versions, the games run much smoother than their last generation counterparts. With great anti-aliasing being utilized, the game looks like a new game all on its own. It's almost impossible to think that these were once PS2 games. The one thing that Sony did overlook when producing this game was enhancing the cut-scenes of the game that utilize the in-game engine. These still appear to have the same resolution of the original games since when the game gets to these moments a drastically noticeable drop in resolution occurs. This is just a minor flaw and I can completely overlook it since I still think they look fairly good, just not as good as the rest of the game.

If you didn't get to play the god of war games in the psp, you should go and buy this game. These games will show tales of kratos back when he was a general of the spartan army. It's a nice game to add to your collection and if your a god of war fan, you MUST get this game as it helps you learn more about Kratos.

most people probably are thinking that these are side story games and arent as good as 1 and 2 but that would be a misrepresentation as ghost of sparta has to me the best story out of them all and chains of olympus was the most fun. They both also have the same level of polish that you would expect from a god of war game. I would recommend to anyone looking for the same great gameplay but with a little bit more story thrown in aswell.
