Great game for a cheap price. I love the Killzone series and this is such a nice change to the format. The game is beautiful and has been a great example of a console launch game. The multiplayer is unfortunately dead but the single player campaign is enough to five you an enjoyable playthrough.

Let's not try to fool ourselves here: this is a console launch-title - it was really never going to be an overall masterpiece, although sadly it sort of is, but only in terms of the work and innovation which begot it. To me, the whole thing felt like a cut-scene from a movie, and not just because of how great the graphical rendering was. The movement felt a little stiff, so it felt like I was just playing through a sci-fi action film. One of the game's biggest weaknesses, as far as I was concerned while playing it, was the lack of focus on customisation and freedom in terms of the weapons you used both the single-player campaign and the multi-player mode of play. A lot of first-person shooters for the so-called "Next Gen" games are embracing customisation of both characters, armor, and weapons, among other things. The campaign takes you to a wide range of locations, which is nice. Almost to the extent to which the game transcends its native genre into another, however momentarily. The technical performance of the game makes it, even almost a year later, still one of the most graphically impressive next-gen games of the past year.

I'll keep this short. The singleplayer is action-packed and not completely awful, one of the better fps campaigns in recent times, but don't look for an award winning story. It mostly skips in and out of missions of you shooting people and blowing things up. The multiplayer is fast-paced and will keep you entertained for a while. Warzone makes a return and keeps things interesting. I have played all of the killzone games ever since the first one on ps2, this next gen sequel is a welcome change, truly pretty game at a smooth 60fps most of the time.

Ignore the mainstream reviews; this is WAY better than they would have you believe. The suggestion that it's nothing more than a stock-standard shooter, with little innovation, just prettier graphics, are incorrect. The graphics are definitely high quality, and the game runs at a silky-smooth 60 frames-per-second. But other gameplay mechanics and additions elevate Killzone Shadow Fall from 'just another shooter' to an essential PS4 purchase; if i hadn't already got a PS4, seeing this would make me want one. A big call, but it's a 'system seller'; worth buying a PS4 for (there, i said it!). The varied single-player campaign consists of many different environments, which are large enough to provide plenty of ways in which to achieve your objective. The scan function that you can use to highlight nearby enemies, and the OWL, which is your flying robotic sidekick, are welcome features that make the gameplay considerably more tactical. The OWL can be used to shield you against enemy fire, hack alarms, computers etc, provide a zipline for you to slide down from cliffs and high-up platforms where the drop would otherwise kill you, and attack enemies. There are lots of weapons to pick up and use, from standard machine-guns, pistols, shotguns etc, to more exotic variations. Multiplayer is what you would expect from a modern shooter, it's robust, stable, and most of all, fun. The whole game just oozes a level of polish and quality not seen from previous consoles, and should definitely be a PS4 game that you pick up. It's more than just a flashy tech-demo of eye-popping graphics to impress your mates with, and is well worth both your time, and your money.
